Ringo Starr teamed up with former Eurythmics man Dave Stewart to write a musical, which they now have successfully sold to Paramount for a silver screen adaptation. The musical is entitled "Hole in the Fence" and is a coming-of-age tale about a group of kids who start a band in order to escape their humdrum mining town. The duo already have experience as collaboration partners; Starr brought Stewart in to produce his 2008 album Liverpool 8. The two will serve as the project's executive producers along with Pam Williams. David Harris is currently writing the script based on the concept and original music cooked up by Starr and Stewart. No release date or attached actors have been announced as of yet

The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" in Theaters- The recently announced digitally restored version of the classic animated Beatles film Yellow Submarine will be shown in select theaters across the U.S. prior to its June 5 release on DVD and Blu-ray.

The revamped edition of the 1968 flick will get its official premiere on Saturday at New York's Ziegfeld Theater, and then will be screened at more than 200 cinemas on various dates over the next few months. Visit YellowSubmarineTheMovie.com to find out all screening dates and locations.

Out today (May 1st) is the DVD and Blu-ray of Martin Scorsese's George Harrison documentary, Living In The Material World. The three-and-a-half hour life-spanning documentary includes interviews with Harrison's widow and son Olivia and Dhani Harrison, his brothers Harry and the late Pete Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Martin, Eric Clapton, first wife Pattie Boyd, Yoko Ono, Phil Spector, Jeff Lynne, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Tom Petty, and Jackie Stewart, among others. The film premiered over two nights last October on HBO, with the DVD and Blue-ray becoming available soon after overseas, but until now, unavailable in North America.

Also available in the package -- and sold separately -- is Early Takes, Volume 1 - George Harrison. The majority of songs on 10-track CD are either demos or early alternate takes of tracks from his 1970 album, All Things Must Pass. Highlights also include a demo version of Bob Dylan's "Mama You've Been On My Mind" and the Everly Brothers' "Let It Be Me" -- as well as early versions of such post-Beatles classics as "All Things Must Past," "My Sweet Lord," "Awaiting On You All," along with the Dylan co-write, "I'd Have You Anytime." There's been no word as to whether an Early Takes, Volume 2 is in the works.
